Blog Content Writer
Summary
Are you a creative storyteller passionate about the environment? We are looking for a Blog Content Writer to craft compelling, educational, and community-focused blog posts. As part of the GNN team, you’ll collaborate with social media strategists and other team members to align content with monthly themes, amplify community efforts, and inspire eco-friendly action.

Duties and Responsibilities
Content Creation:
- Write and edit blog posts, including eco-tips, volunteer spotlights, member group features, and podcast recaps.
- Research sustainability topics to ensure accurate and insightful blog content.
Content Planning and Collaboration:
- Plan and align blog schedules with GNN’s monthly themes and campaigns.
- Coordinate with the Social Media Content Strategist to promote blog posts effectively across platforms.
Content Management:
- Publish and format blog posts using a content management system (e.g., WordPress).
- Optimize content with SEO techniques, including keyword use, meta descriptions, and internal linking.
Skills and Experience
Required:
- Strong writing and editing skills to craft clear, engaging, and high-quality blog content.
- Basic SEO knowledge to optimize posts for search engines.
Ability to research and present sustainability topics accurately and engagingly. - Familiarity with a content management system (CMS) like WordPress.
Collaborative mindset to work with a team and align content strategies.
Desired:
- Experience writing about environmental or sustainability topics.
- Passion for community-building and eco-friendly initiatives.

Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Establish and manage a One Degree Cooler chapter at your school.
- Advocacy: Promote One Degree Cooler’s events, campaigns, and activities to encourage student involvement in climate action.
- Collaboration: Attend monthly meetings, working with the One Degree Cooler team and other chapter leads to share ideas, resources, and strategies.
Qualifications:
- Passion for Climate Action: Enthusiasm for sustainability and addressing climate change.
- Leadership Skills: Ability to lead a team and inspire others to participate.

Social Media Intern
Job description
We are seeking a motivated, creative, and socially conscious Social Media Intern to join the One Degree Cooler team. This role is an exciting opportunity for high school or university students passionate about climate action, storytelling, and digital communication to gain hands-on experience in social media marketing within a purpose-driven organization.
As a Social Media Intern, you will play a key role in shaping our online voice and expanding our digital reach. You’ll work closely with our communications and outreach teams to craft compelling content, build community engagement, and support campaign rollouts that inspire youth climate action. From idea to execution, you’ll have the chance to contribute directly to real campaigns and grow your skills in content creation, digital strategy, and analytics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing and implementing social media strategies across platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, X, etc.)
- Create engaging, on-brand content including graphics, reels, stories, and written posts
- Research and propose social trends, hashtags, and campaign ideas aligned with One Degree Cooler’s mission
- Monitor audience engagement, respond to comments/messages, and help build our online community
- Track performance analytics and contribute to monthly reporting and recommendations
- Support special digital campaigns, event promotions, and collaborative initiatives with partners
